Google Calender added 3 new labs recently and from those Gentle Reminders which supports pop up reminder just like your favorite email client are useful for lot's of people. If you keep Google Calendar open all day long, you probably end up seeing quite a few reminders every day. Browser alerts are okay, but I tried to find a way for Calendar notifications to integrate smoothly with everything else.
As you "Turn on", Google Reminders then when you receive notification at that time Calendar window title starts blinking and full event details can viewable to you in your Calender.
As it's one type of Lab feature for Google Calender so you will have to manually add it to your Google account using this Labs tab under Google Calender setting.
And if you are using Google Crome (Google Web Browser) on Windows then you can also set Google Calendar to display desktop notifications that will appear even if your browser is minimized.
